Our Family Torah portion discussion
In keeping with the tradition of my relatives to read a certain portion of the Torah on Shabbat and to share our thoughts and glean from the teachings of the past and of the errors of our relatives in the wilderness so that we may learn not to do such things, but to trust in YHWH, our Elohim (God) with all our heart, with all our being, and with all our might (Deut. 6:4-5). We can see what happens when we do not trust the voice of our Elohim, but rather listen to men that are qualified according to the qualifications of men, who lead the congregation astray. We can also see the sharpness and the kindness of Elohim in the way He deals with the children of Yisraél. In contrast, we can see the stiffnecked hardened hearts of the children of the covenant that continued to try to do things according to their own understanding. Elohim would tell them something and say, “No don’t go, for I am not in your midst.” Sadly, yet and still, they disobeyed and again did it according to their own way. Continuing, as the children of Yisraél are about to cross over the Jordan and enter into the promised land, it was the previous generation’s children who (at that time) did not know good from evil, and were not accountable for their actions.
(A sidenote is that a man is not considered an adult and is not responsible until the age of 20. For it is at the age of 20 that men would be enlisted into the armies of Yisraél).
May the younger generation always learn from the wisdom and experience, strength and hope of the BELIEVING, older generation so they do not follow in the same footsteps of unbelief. In today’s Torah portion, we learned what it truly means to trust in YAH and believe in His Word, for He will fight for us, and He will deliver us from the hand of our enemies, and even more, He will give them into our hands and we will inherit the land (promises). This promise holds true through us today, those who walk in belief, proclaiming the testimony of Y’shua the Messiah (Rev. 12:17). And everything that is written in the Torah is for our edification and our building up so we know what it means to truly walk with/follow Messiah Y’shua. These are just some of the thoughts in our discussion of what we read with our children today. Blessings to you on this beautiful day. For truly, this is the day that YHWH has created. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. While we have ceased from our secular labors, let us remember that the work of the Almighty never ends. We pray in Y’shua that you receive your healings, your petitions, and your prayers today when all is inline and cohesive with the Master’s Will. We pray in the Master Yahushua HaMoshiach.
