“Accountability”
Accountability
Yesterday, on the seventh day we had a discussion about accountability and we examined the Torah. It appears that an individual enters into accountability before YHWH at the age of 20 (contextually speaking, as a man I speak). YHWH said that the younger generation did not know the right hand from the left and therefore they were not held responsible for the decision of their parents in the matter of lacking belief, and not believing the word of Yahweh in regards to entering the promised land.
In rabbinical Judaism, they come to the following conclusion:
Rabbinic Judaism developed thirteen as the age of halakhic majority primarily from teachings about puberty, vows, and hence presuming legal responsibility.
You’ve heard it said:
“At five years old, Scripture; at ten, Mishnah; at thirteen, the commandments; at fifteen, Talmud..”
In continuing our conversation about the accountability of a young adult, and when they come into accountability, we started to talk about marriage.
We also conversed about Esau and Ya’aqoq. We took notice (contextually speaking) that if a woman is mature at the age of 20 it becomes evident that the holy ones waited until the pre-appointed time to take the wife that was chosen (according to belief). Esau on the other hand, could not resist the flesh and took a suitable wife for himself that he had chose, one that was not in the Way of holiness. Keep in mind that Esau was 40 years old when he took his wives. This is an interesting detail because it was not like he was young and immature although it does appear as if he didn'‘t wait for the pre-appointed time. Also, the women Esau chose were not accustomed to the teachings given to our ancient ancestors. This proved to be fatal. This is what Paul was referring to about becoming “unevenly yoked”, that’s why he actually said that marriage is very sacred and serious, and it shouldn’t be taken on in a generation that takes marriage so lightheartedly, as it also is in today’s western society.
It’s important to raise up a generation to walk with Yah and have reverence for His Word. The most attractive person is not always the most successful marriage choice, we see this with Jacob and Rachel. Whereas the wife that he initially did not look upon, because maybe she was not quite as beautiful as Rachel, was actually the one that was better suited for him, and is laid in the tomb together along side her husband.
Attached below are scriptures for this contextual conversation. #HolinessMatters
““Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, by their clans, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, every male, head by head, from twenty years old and above, everyone going out to the army in Yisra’ĕl. Number them by their divisions, you and Aharon.”
Bemiḏbar (Numbers) 1:2-3 TS2009
““Everyone passing over to be registered, from twenty years old and above, gives a contribution to יהוה.”
Shemoth (Exodus) 30:14 TS2009
“And your little ones and your children, who you say are for a prey, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, ( meaning they are not yet accountable) they are going in there. And to them I give it, and they are to possess it.”
Deḇarim (Deuteronomy) 1:39 TS2009
“Not one of the men who came up from Mitsrayim, from twenty years old and above, is to see the land of which I swore to Aḇraham, Yitsḥaq, and Ya‛aqoḇ, because they did not follow Me completely,”
Bemiḏbar (Numbers) 32:11 TS2009
““Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘When a man separates a vow, by your evaluation of lives unto יהוה, when your evaluation is of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old, (contextually speaking this appears to be the age bracket of adulthood) then your evaluation shall be fifty sheqels of silver, according to the sheqel of the set-apart place. ‘And if it is a female, then your evaluation shall be thirty sheqels; and if from five years old up to twenty years old, then your evaluation for a male shall be twenty sheqels, and for a female ten sheqels; and if from a new moon (a month) old up to five years old, then your evaluation for a male shall be five sheqels of silver, and for a female your evaluation shall be three sheqels of silver;”
